Source: EPC Certificates for Scotland

EPC certificates for Scotland are now live. Unlike most Scottish property data that hides behind a paywall, this dataset is freely available. That said, the data quality could do with a sense-check, some of the errors make you wonder if anyone’s checking the homework!

One of the few Scottish property datasets that’s actually free and not stuck behind a paywall is EPC certificates. You can grab the files here: https://www.scottishepcregister.org.uk/CustomerFacingPortal/DataExtract The data runs from Q3 2015 through to Q2 2025. Each quarterly file is around 90 MB, so it adds up fast. My epc_scotland table is sitting at about 1.6 GB. It’s not the friendliest dataset either, with two header rows and some formatting that’ll make you shake your head. And the quality… well, let’s just say they could do with someone double-checking...
